Just a quick boat ride to Muskeget Island, where only 30 minutes from the bustling tourist destination that is Nantucket Island, live an estimated population of 2500 Grey Seals. These year-round dwellers live side-by-side with an ever changing group of mammal, reptile, and avian residents. Their habitats include sandbars and stretches of open sand beaches and the only way to see them is by water.
Grey Seals are always on display and depending on the season they may be joined by Long Tailed Ducks, Scoters, Gannets, Grebes, Peregrine Falcons, Marsh Hawks, and countless shorebirds. Captain Perkins’ experience and knowledge make each voyage a special memory for all ages. 2.5 hours. Kids love this!

Whale Watch
Travel aboard the Shearwater up to 15-30 miles to the south and east of Nantucket in search of Humpback, Minke and Finback whales, White-Sided Dolphins, Sea Turtles and more. You will also see many pelagic birds including Shearwaters and Petrels. If there is anything to spot on the horizon, you can be sure Captain Perkins will find it! This unique Nantucket experience will bring memories to last a lifetime. We guarantee whale sightings and will give you a free ticket for another whale watch if we don’t find whales. (In 2006 we averaged over 30 whales per trip!) 6 hours.

Harbor Tour/Ice Cream Cruise
Join us on our scenic 90-minute tour of Nantucket’s historic inner harbor while you and your family enjoy Nantucket's best ice cream, fresh from The Juice Bar. We'll tour the waterfront, cruising by the famous Brant Point Lighthouse and many homes from the whaling era. Of course, we also get up-close views of the splendid yachts visiting from around the world. Relax as we continue “up harbor”, away from the bustle, to observe the quiet natural beauty of the undeveloped shoreline of Coatue. Captain Perkins will be more than willing to point out and identify the myriad native species of flora and fauna visible nearby. Fun for the whole family, and ice cream lovers of all ages. 1.5 hours

Cocktail Cruise Each evening the Shearwater is available for private charter to help celebrate any special event-a family gathering, a birthday- any celebration or reason to cruise the calm and protected waters of Wauwinet and Polpis in the company of friends. Catering available, or BYO. 3 hours

Private Charters
Whether aboard the Shearwater or your own vessel, Captain Perkins is also available to design your own private excursion. Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod are popular destinations. The Shearwater is avalaible for private charter for any of our Excursions. Captain Perkins is also skilled at teaching teenagers and adults alike how to safely handle their own boat or, if you choose, he can help you navigate the often confusing waters that surround Nantucket.
